Electrical fault causes fire at Hampshire housing block

Inside Housing reports that a fire at a housing association housing block in Hampshire in May 2023 was found to be caused by an electrical fault.

No one was injured in the fire but 12 flats in the nine-block complex were badly damaged and large sections of the building’s roof were completely destroyed.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) told Inside Housing that the fire was determined to have been caused by an electrical fault.

An investigation found the fire was an accidental incident related to issues with an extension cable and an associated electrical appliance.
