NHS to roll out green estates framework

NHS to roll out green estates framework

NHS Shared Business Services is working on a decarbonisation framework to retrofit public sector buildings, including the NHS estate.

The government aims to reduce emissions by 75% in public sector buildings by 2037 through its Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme.

NHS SBS is consulting with potential suppliers to develop a national procurement strategy before launching a formal invitation to tender. The procurement approach being considered involves using a single contractor to provide multiple energy efficiency services under a single contract, allowing NHS Trusts and other public sectors to streamline their processes.

The final scope of the framework will include insulation, solar PV, renewable heating installations, windows, LED lighting, building management systems, air conditioning, cooling, and ventilation. The plan is to appoint contractors and have the framework operational by July 2024.

Suppliers wishing to be considered can express their interest by completing this document (RFI Decarb Framework) and returning it by email to nsbs.construction@nhs.net.
