Solar panel sales through the roof

Industry body Solar Energy UK reports that enquiries about, and sales of, solar panels have skyrocketed in light of the energy bills crisis.

The association says over 3,000 solar installations are being carried out every week, up from 1,000 a week in 2020.

Chris Hewett, chief executive of Solar Energy UK, said to the BBC, “More solar panels are being put on British roofs than ever before.

In response to reports that Google searches for ‘solar panels’ had increased by 100 per cent during the recent heatwaves, he said, “This is climate change. This is happening. This is not a drill. We have the next decade to accelerate the renewables sector. What’s good news now is that solar and wind are the most affordable way to generate electricity in the UK. We have the solutions to the energy security crisis.”
