Electrical Distributors’ Association Annual Awards

There has never been a more momentous time for the electrotechnical sector to come together. Professional wholesalers work with manufacturers and contractors to understand and mitigate supply and demand issues. The pace of electrification is accelerating, and digitisation is increasing. Wholesalers can offer bespoke advice on new products entering the market. Knowledge of product standards is vital for safe, successful and compliant installations.  Staff training and development is key to providing comprehensive advice.

The Electrical Distributors’ Association (EDA) is on a journey to raise the profile of quality training for the sector. They recently won the prestigious Princess Royal Training Award for their modules. This year, their annual Investor in Training Awards recognised nine handpicked winners. The winners were chosen from thousands of managers in UK wholesalers and manufacturer businesses. The successful managers showed impressive commitment to developing their teams using the EDA’s module and apprenticeship programmes.

Over 500 people from the electrotechnical sector attended the flagship event on London’s Park Lane on 9th March. The evening was an opportunity to strengthen ties between industry and trade associations. ECA president, Steve Murray and CEO, Steve Bratt joined the celebrations , showing the growing relationship between the two trade bodies.

In a traditional handover ceremony, new President Charlie Lacey received his chain of office from EDA’s CEO, Margaret Fitzsimmons. Charlie Lacey is Managing Director of Stearn Electric Co Ltd. He is also 93rd President of EDA. One of his first acts was to praise the winners of the Investor in Training Awards:

“Huge congratulations to this year’s winners. These Awards demonstrate the fantastic commitment by this sector to the professional development of its people. Each winner has demonstrated how the benefit of access to the EDA’s outstanding training and apprenticeship offer has delivered exceptional results for their teams.”
