National Grid seeks contractors for green boost

National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) has called for electrotechnical contractors to boost investment in green energy infrastructure over the next seven years.

The New Infrastructure Delivery Onshore Programme (NIODP) will oversee spending plans up until 2030 as part of the Government’s drive to reach Net Zero by 2050.

Work will include the construction of over 1,000km of overhead and underground transmission lines, substation and customer connections.

A statement from NGET reads, "The scale and complexity of the infrastructure required by the NIODP requires a review of NGET’s current approach to engaging and contracting with the supply chain."

Contractors wishing to take part in the procurement process should email  box.NImarketengagement@nationalgrid.com stating “Request for Access to MED” as the subject line by January 20.
