ECA Vice President scoops Skills Champion of the Year

ECA Vice President scoops Skills Champion of the Year

Ruth Devine, ECA Vice President and Managing Director of SJD Electrical, scoops Skills Champion of the Year at the prestigious Enginuity Skills Awards.

Ruth impressed the judges with the time she dedicates to volunteer roles which champion electrotechnical skills. They praised her ability to challenge stereotypes and encourage more women into the sector.

The electrotechnical sector is still a predominately male-dominated sector. By working with schools and colleges and speaking at national events she highlights the importance of inclusive behaviours and culture change. She is also an advocate for the importance of electrotechnical skills for a net zero future.

Enginuity brings together engineering employers and educators to provide practical skills solutions to re-energise UK industry. The Awards recognise the people and organisations whose commitment to skills is safeguarding the future of the industry.

Ruth is also the Chair of The Electrotechnical Skills Partnership (TESP) and works closely with ECA on skills development. ECA plays a pivotal role shaping employment, training and qualification programmes to fit our industry for the future.
