UKCA transition extended to 2025

The Government has confirmed the current CE mark will go on being recognised until 30 June 2025 for all products, including construction products.

The current CE mark, denoting quality standards across Europe, was due to be replaced by the UKCA mark as part of the Brexit transition.

In recent weeks there has been a level of confusion in the construction industry due to ambiguous government guidance. It was unclear whether construction products were included in the latest transition period.

Actuate UK and others raised the alarm last year when it became clear there was a lack of capacity in UK approved testing facilities for the new quality mark. ECA is member of Actuate UK. The engineering services body also highlighted uncertainty about the status of spare parts for previously certified products.

The UKCA mark was due to replace the CE mark at the end of last year. Due to the potential supply chain issues, Government extended the transition until the end of 2022. This fresh extension will bring short term relief to industry in England, Scotland and Wales. There is separate guidance for Northern Ireland.
