Is your cable management 18th Edition compliant?

Changes made to the IET wiring regulation BS 7671 stipulate wiring systems shall be supported such that they will not be liable to premature collapse in the event of fire.

The regulation applies to all cables, including low voltage circuits, In all locations, not just in escape routes.

Known as “the 18th edition” these critical changes were introduced, in part, as a result of the Grenfell disaster, and place responsibility on the designer and installer for the safety of the cable supports throughout domestic, commercial and industrial properties.

Which cable supports should you be using?

One popular option is the SPIT Metal Clip Elec, a new fully compliant pre-galvanised cable tie mounting clip. Compatible with the direct fastening Pulsa nail gun, the Metal Clip Elec can be quickly attached to concrete, steel, brick and timber and holds a versatile amount of cabling with a reinforced steel cable tie.

Fast installation, and total 18th Edition compliance couldn’t be easier, with two Metal Clip Elecs to choose from. A standard version for use with the Pulsa magnetic nose piece, and one with a snap-off safety tab to make holding the clip easier during application.
