Delivering EV charging solutions for clients

Throughout COP27, ECAtoday is sharing stories of low carbon innovation and transformation from Members, Associates and Content Partners. Actemium exists to ease its clients’ energy transition journey and it’s drive to design, build and maintain which led them to enter the electrical vehicle (EV) charging sector way back in 2010.

Having persevered through several vehicle electrification false dawns over the past twelve years, Actemium knows that they have a responsibility to provide suitable, practical and cost-effective solutions and services for its clients. Today the company has completed over 600 DC (50-350kW) and 1,600 AC (7-22kW) charger installations across the length and breadth of the country (and counting).

EV charging is an exciting sector. It’s fast paced, technology led, fun - and awash with great people. Recent years have seen unprecedented levels of demand and the recruitment of high-quality new talent is imperative not only for the success of Actemium as a business, but for the wider future of e-mobility. To support this, Actemium’s successful graduate program has been attracting young talent, bringing energy, enthusiasm and excitement into the sector.

As a business, Actemium takes pride in its ‘safe pair of hands reputation’ in the industry. It is also acting to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) by 40% before 2030. Each business unit within Actemium has worked out its own GHG reduction scenario, implementing initiatives that reflect the realities of their specific region and operation. Within the UK, the initial focus has been on transitioning the Actemium EV fleet (cars and vans) to achieve the biggest impact possible. The use of renewable energy across their UK operations has also been implemented, and the business aims to work with its supply chain partners to reduce its indirect emissions impact.

Speaking about Actemium’s involvement with Leading the Charge, Andrew Hunter, Director of Actemium Mechanical & Electrical, said:

“Actemium in the UK has roots dating back to 1907 and we have been a Member of the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) since December 1914 – over 100 years and counting. Being at the forefront of technical advances in the electrical industry has been at the core of our organisation and is crucial for us to be able to support our many longstanding customers.

“Leading the Charge is an initiative that resonates with our business, and we are proud to support our many customers on their energy transition journey - leading to a cleaner future for everyone.”
