Diversity in Engineering | Part 1

2020 has been a year of change for many reasons. One of the more positive changes has been the increased level of awareness and discussion around the topic of diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and how to create more equitable, fair and inclusive working environments.

In today’s episode, ECA’s communications manager Omar Khalil met (virtually) with Rahman Mustapha, a Chartered Engineer with a master’s degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, to talk about race in the engineering workplace, and to share his experiences – both positive and negative – from his early career.

Rahman sits on the Executive Board of the Association For Black and Minority Ethnic Engineers, or the AFBE, and is a part of the AFBE Mentoring Team.

To find out more about the diversity training, mentoring opportunities, and other resources available to businesses, visit www.afbe.org.uk.

Make sure to also listen to Rahman’s own podcast,  called Ends 2 Excellence. Its a platform for young people to learn from ethnic minority professionals and their experiences in their workplace. Visit www.ends2excellence.com for more.
