Hello, this is the ECA coronavirus update for Wednesday, 6th of May.

Eligible individuals will be able to apply for HMRC’s new Self-Employment Income Support Scheme from Wednesday 13th of May.

HMRC will begin contacting eligible individuals by email, text and letter to explain what they need to do to apply.

An online ‘eligibility checker’ can be viewed at: tax.service.gov.uk.

The Government Bounce Back Loans scheme is now open for applications. The scheme allows small and medium-sized businesses to apply for fast-track loans between £2,000 and £50,000. Businesses can apply online through a short and simple form.

We would like to remind listeners that that support schemes may have changed since their initial launch, and any initially negative response may be more successful now as a result.

Visit gov.uk for more.

ECA health and safety experts Paul Reeve and Paul Williams will discuss ‘closer proximity working on site’ and other health and safety matters linked to current site issues, in a live webinar tomorrow, Thursday 7th of May.

ECA, NICEIC and ELECSA have produced a short video on coronavirus precautions for domestic premises.

Based on Government and Public Health England guidelines, this latest video outlines the key steps that contractors should follow to ensure essential domestic work can be undertaken safely during the current pandemic.
