Solar PV added to GHG

There has been an important change to the Department of Energy, Business and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Green Homes Grant (GHG) scheme, with regards to Local Authority delivery.

The Green Homes Grant: Local Authority Delivery Phase 1B Guidance for Local Authorities document now includes funding for installations of solar PV panels.

A notice of intent must be submitted by midday 6th November 2020. Final bids must be submitted by midday 4th December 2020.

Funding will be provided for any energy efficiency and heating measures compatible with the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) that will improve energy efficiency Band D, E, F or G rated homes. As per the initial phase of the scheme, this includes various insulation measures and heat pumps, but crucially now includes solar PV.

ECA energy solutions advisor Luke Osborne said, “This is a very important addition as it allows more opportunities for the electrical sector to take part in the scheme which not only aids the Post/Mid-COVID-19 recovery, but also aids the UKs transition to a low to no carbon future.”
