Tesla launches home energy plan
Energy and tech giant Tesla has launched its own UK electricity tariff in conjunction with energy provider Octopus Energy.
Designed only for homes with a smart meter, rooftop solar panels and a Tesla Powerwall storage battery, the plan could cut household energy bills by up to 75 per cent. Even lower rates could be offered to households with a Tesla electric vehicle.
Additionally, any electricity sourced from the grid via the package is guaranteed to be 100 per cent renewably-sourced.
An Octopus FAQ page states that by joining the Tesla Energy Plan, customers will become part of Tesla’s UK Virtual Power plant. Customers’ Powerwalls will be directly managed by Tesla and connected to a network of homes across the UK. This will help support the energy needs and stability of the electricity grid.
