New Job Support Scheme is coming...
A new Job Support Scheme (JSS) is due to come into effect from 1st November 2020. A summary of the JSS by the Treasury is available here and further details of the JSS will be available on the ECA Business Recovery webpage.
ECA Members who have used the Government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS), also known as the furlough scheme, will be aware that the scheme is due to end on 31st October 2020. Final claims for payments from HMRC under the CJRS must be submitted on or before 30 November 2020.
Following the end of the CJRS, employers may claim a one-off £1,000 Job Retention Bonus (JRB) for each employee:
- Who has been furloughed under the CJRS and
- For whom the employer claimed successfully claimed payment under the CJRS and
- Who continues to be employed by the employer until at least 31 January 2021.
The JRB is for employers. Unlike payments under the CJRS, the JRB payment does not have to be paid to employees.
HMRC has produced guidance on employees for whom employers may claim the JRB which is available here and have said that the guidance will be updated before the end of January 2021 with details on how to claim the JRB.
