Electric taxis to deliver tools
Plant hire company Speedy has trialled the use of electric taxis to deliver tools, generators and other items to sites in London.
The new red converted delivery cabs will help meet growing demand for one-tonne, zero emission commercial vehicles, which are currently mainly diesel models.
The vehicles can accommodate two Euro-sized pallets with a total payload of over 800kg.
Aaron Powell, head of fleet at Speedy, said to Construction Enquirer: “The construction sector accounts for 10% of the UK’s carbon emissions and we recognise that the hire industry is uniquely placed to introduce innovative, sustainable solutions that can reduce this.”
