EV and hybrid sales overtake diesel
Sales of hybrid and all-electric vehicles overtook sales of diesel vehicles in the second quarter of 2020, according to a report from the Department for Transport (DfT).
Figures from the report show that 33,000 pure electric and hybrid cars were registered between April and June, compared with 29,900 diesel vehicles.
Steve Gooding, director of the RAC Foundation, said in the Times, “it seems likely we will look back on these numbers as signalling the death throes of diesel and the ascendance of the electric and alternatively fuelled cars.
“The real tipping point will come when we spend no more time thinking about where and how we’ll charge our cars than we do today finding the best service station.”
