BP calls for 2030 ICE sale ban
Oil giant BP has joined ECA in calling for the Government to bring the petrol and diesel vehicle sale ban forward to 2030.
BP has said that that the UK’s EV charging network will be robust enough by 2030 to enable the ban. Its Polar network of EV chargers already includes more than 7,000 units and is set to expand.
Bernard Looney, BP’s chief executive, said in the Times, “Whether that is 2035, 2032 or 2030, we are up for it — and, importantly, up for the measures and supporting policies to boost electrification and hydrogen in transport that would make it possible.”
