Giant batteries coming to Bristol
One of the UK’s largest battery energy storage plants is set to be built in Avonmouth, near Bristol.
Investment company Electric Land signed the lease for the 33MW facility with renewables firm Voltalia SA.
Ben Lansman, director of Foundation Property & Capital Group, which owns Electric Land, said to BusinessGreen that they focused on “managing small, complex projects to generate a secure income return whilst focusing on creating significant capital value”. Lansman added that there strategy now “increasingly” focuses on energy infrastructure.
The new facility brings cumulative battery storage installations in the UK to over 900MW, according to the UK Battery Storage Project, making it a world leader in the field.
