New smart grid projects for England
Two new projects in southern England are set to ‘future-proof’ the grid for increased demand and local energy input from prosumers.
Green energy supplier Social Energy will work in partnership with UK Power Networks to enable around 100 homes to return battery stored energy to the grid, to increase its capacity at times of high demand.
Steve Day, chief technology officer at Social Energy, said to BusinessGreen: "Homeowners here have an incredible opportunity to be part of this exciting project to move towards a smart grid - going green, saving money and supporting the future of energy."
ECA recently produced a podcast on prosumers, low-carbon smart technology and opportunities for installers. Listen here.
