Top businesses call for greener budget

Leading UK businesses including Sky, Tesco, Siemens, Aviva and others have called on Chancellor Rishi Sunak to include investment in green jobs and infrastructure at the heart of this autumn’s Budget.

The group of businesses, represented by Aldersgate Group, have asked for both short-term and long-term measures to stimulate the low-carbon economy after the coronavirus pandemic, including establishing a National Investment Bank.

Nick Molho, executive director at the Aldersgate Group, said in BusinessGreen: “There is mounting economic evidence that a recovery plan based on investment in low carbon infrastructure and industries is one of the most effective ways of creating jobs in the near term and driving greater productivity, innovation and resilience in the long-term."
