Green recovery could create 1.6 million jobs
A report published by the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) this week has said that a green agenda-focused economic recovery from the coronavirus crisis could create up to 1.6 million new jobs in the UK.
The report follows research that suggests 2 million jobs could be lost in the next 5 years due to the pandemic.
IPPR associate director Luke Murphy said, “We urgently need to make substantial investment to insulate the nation’s homes, upgrade our public transport network and plant trees and restore nature. We can’t afford to wait for this: now is the time.”
