Scottish Power: ‘electrify everything’
Chief executive of Scottish Power Keith Anderson has said that Government should “electrify the hell out of everything right now,” in an effort to achieve a ‘green recovery’ from the coronavirus pandemic.
He argued that investment would be better placed in current electrification technologies such as electric vehicles and windfarms, rather than technologies like carbon capture and hydrogen power which are several years away from general use.
Speaking to the Times, Anderson added, “While you’re building all of that, start your trials on hydrogen and prototype projects of carbon capture and storage. They help to deliver against the 2050 target, but what’s going to make a difference today is the technology that’s currently available.”
