Signify to go plastic-free by 2021
Lighting manufacturer Signify has made a commitment to become plastic-free for all its consumer packaging by 2021.
The move will reduce plastic use by over 2,500 tonnes a year, and it will also cut carbon emissions – the firm estimates that it could cut down by around 6,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
Signify’s chief executive Eric Rondolat said, “Plastic waste has a very negative impact on our planet and its biodiversity and we decided that we must take a leading role and start using plastic-free alternatives. It is the right thing to do and meets the increasing expectations of our customers.
“I look forward to the moment that we can announce that we no longer use plastics in our packaging.”
