Structured cabling markets slows despite increased demand

Recent data from building services body BSRIA shows that, worldwide, the structured cabling market continued to decline in the first quarter of 2020.

The global structured cabling sector grew by 1.2 per cent in 2019, and 5 per cent in 2018. BSRIA predicts that, for 2020 overall, growth will not pass 1 per cent, and will increase modestly thereafter until 2024.

The research also shows that sales of data Category 6A data cables, designed for high speed data transmission, increased by almost 7 per cent globally in 2019 and now accounts for a third of all cabling systems by value. This reflects growing demand from data centres worldwide.
