Construction industry calls for reverse VAT delay

Leading organisations in the UK construction industry, including ECA, have signed an open letter calling on Chancellor Rishi Sunak to delay the new rules on reverse charge VAT until October 2021 at the earliest.

The move would help businesses impacted by the coronavirus crisis to recover before the change takes effect.

The joint letter, published in the Telegraph, said that many firms no longer have the resources to prepare for the upcoming changes, with many of the required staff currently on furlough.

The full letter can be read here.
