New nuclear station plans submitted
Energy company EDF Energy has applied to build the Sizewell C nuclear power plant in Suffolk.
Initially proposed a decade ago, the 3.2GW plant could power up to six million homes and provide 25,000 jobs as well as up to 1,000 apprenticeships.
Humphrey Cadoux-Hudson, managing director of the Sizewell C project, said to the BBC that it would "kick-start the economy following the coronavirus crisis".
The plant would also reduce the UK’s need to import energy from overseas, according to EDF Energy.
