ECA signs conflict avoidance pledge
ECA has signed the RICS conflict avoidance pledge, which commits businesses to working proactively to avoid conflict, promote the value of collaborative working, and work with industry to use conflict avoidance measures.
ECA joins several other leading companies and professional bodies in signing the pledge, including the Institution of Civil Engineers, Royal Institute of British Architects, Transport for London, Network Rail, and others.
Signatories of the pledge are provided with extensive guidance on its implementation and best practice, developed by the Conflict Avoidance Coalition Steering Group and shaped by feedback from industry partners.
Rob Driscoll, ECA director of legal and business, said, “contractual disputes cost the industry billions of pounds a year. By working closely with industry to resolve differences before they develop into conflicts, we can help make construction the more efficient and effective industry it aspires to be.”
