NICEIC & ELECSA halt apprentice competition

Leading certification bodies NICEIC and ELECSA have cancelled their apprentice of the year competition due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“It is with deep regret that we have decided to halt this year's Apprentice of the Year Competition,” commented Darren Staniforth, senior technical presenter at NICEIC and ELECSA.

Eight finalists had already been confirmed, and they will all receive prize bundles from the hosts, Scolmore and Voltimum. The finalists are as follows:

  • Archy Oliver, Lowe Electrical
  • Cameron Moss, Scotts
  • Jamie Goulder, AW Electrical
  • Oliver Jordan, Lowe & Oliver Ltd
  • Katie Harvey, Darke & Taylor
  • Sean McNamee, Capitol Engineering Services
  • Blair Manderson, Fife Government
  • James White, Faradays

“We recognise the amount of work each apprentice has put into the process thus far and how disappointing this decision will be”, Mr. Staniforth added.
