Housebuilding activity drops by 85%
Housebuilding activity has fallen by 85% during the coronavirus lockdown, according to the Construction Products Association (CPA).
“Our own analysis shows around 60% of construction output in Great Britain has been lost during the current social distancing restrictions”, CPA economics director Noble Francis told Building magazine. He added that this increased to “85% of housebuilding” activity.
The CPA estimate reportedly includes the impact productivity losses from the lockdown, as well as factoring in the number of site closures.
