Sunak offers furlough assurances

Chancellor Rishi Sunak has indicated that any changes to the Government’s furlough scheme will be phased, during a discussion with union leaders, reports the Guardian.

The discussion covered the risks of redundancies following the end of the scheme, as well as how the scheme could potentially be made more flexible.

Around 6 million workers are currently covered by the scheme, with cost estimates running at £3-4 billion per week. It currently runs until the end of June.

ECA has published detailed guidance on accessing the furlough scheme, which can be accessed at www.eca.co.uk/coronavirus
