HE boosts contractor cashflow
Roads network body Highways England has released payment data showing that it paid 98 per cent of its supplier invoices within 5 days at the end of April. This is up from 74 per cent of invoices paid within contractual terms before the coronavirus lockdown at the end of March.
Highways England commercial director Malcolm Dare said the body was planning to sustain this regime. He also urged suppliers to do the same, to help boost cashflow at all levels of the supply chain.
He said: “During April we will have also paid a total of £490m to suppliers in order to support supply chain cash flow, this is above the normal monthly levels.”
