Industry seeks operational clarity from government

Mace chief executive Mark Reynolds, Skanska president and CEO Greg Craig, and Build UK’s Chief Executive Suzannah Nichol have advised Business Secretary Alok Sharma that more clarity is needed in key areas, to help the sector get back to work. These include operational issues raised directly by ECA with Build UK and elsewhere in recent weeks (based on Member input) such as:

  • Further guidance on the use of PPE (including respiratory protection) in ‘non-clinical’ (including onsite) working environments.
  • Clarity about the CLC Site Operating Procedure reference to 15 minutes’ face-to-face contact, as originally set out in government Guidance on Social Distancing in the Workplace for construction.
