Coronavirus testing now available for essential workers

Coronavirus testing now available for essential workers

All ‘essential workers’ in England who are self-isolating, and members of their households, are eligible to book a coronavirus test from today.

The government’s website says that coronavirus tests are being made freely available to:

•             essential workers with symptoms; and

•             people who live with essential workers and have symptoms.

The government site adds “essential workers can find out whether they have the virus, and we can help them return to work if they test negative”.

List of essential workers

For the purpose of providing tests, the list of ‘essential workers’ deploys criteria used to decide whose children can still attend school. The definitive list of essential workers (with symptoms) who can access testing can be found here.
