Update for Government furlough scheme
The Government’s Job Retention Scheme has been extended to the end of June, to reflect the ongoing social distancing measures currently in place.
The Government has said this will “allow firms from across the UK to continue to protect millions of jobs,” and that the scheme “will continue to be monitored to ensure people and businesses can get back to work as soon as it’s safe to do so.”
ECA will be incorporating this update into its Furlough guidance note, which will be available on the dedicated ECA coronavirus webpage.
Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, said, “With the extension of the coronavirus lockdown measures yesterday, it is the right decision to extend the furlough scheme for a month to the end of June to provide clarity.”
