CCC urges low-carbon economic recovery
The Committee on Climate Change (CCC), the UK’s climate advisory body, is set to advise the Government on how to implement a ‘resilient, low-carbon economic recovery’ from the coronavirus crisis. The advice will form part of part of its wider annual assessment of the UK's progress towards the 2050 Net Zero carbon goal.
The body will also unveil its revised work plan for 2020 in light of the coronavirus lockdown.
CCC chief executive Chris Stark said, "Responding to the pandemic is, rightly, the immediate priority for everyone. Eventually, thoughts will turn to the need to rebuild after coronavirus - the climate priorities can help shape these efforts. The Committee will offer advice to government on constructing a resilient recovery.”
