Energy storage slowdown in 2019

Commercial energy storage expansion across Europe slowed in 2019, according to a new study by consultants Delta-EE.

The study, prepared for the European Association for Storage of Energy (Ease), found that the marketing grew by 1 gigawatt-hours last year. In 2018, the market grew by 1.47GWh - almost 50 per cent more.

“Even if energy storage is a key enabler of the energy transition and clearly seen as a major tool to achieve the emissions targets linked to the Paris agreement, more support is needed”, commented Ease secretary general Patrick Clerens.
