LIA membership required for IBA preferred lighting suppliers

The IBA Buying Group* Ltd has announced its intention that it will only accept applicants for Preferred Supplier Status from Lighting suppliers who are Full Members of the Lighting Industry Association (LIA).

The move aims to help remove sub-standard and poor-quality lighting products from the UK marketplace. 

According to Paul Jenner, the IBA’s Chief Operating Officer "It’s essential that reputable electrical wholesalers seek to ensure the quality of the products they sell. Ensuring that all our group lighting suppliers are Members of the LIA will help safeguard our customers, giving them confidence that we are only stocking, buying and selling quality products”. 

Steve Davies, CEO of the LIA said “Our Market Surveillance initiative has been welcomed by the industry and the IBA have acknowledged that by being the first Buying Group to publicly support LIA Membership”.
