Costain to offer ‘low-carbon options’ in bids

Infrastructure company Costain says it will offer low-carbon options in its project bids in an effort to boost carbon reduction in construction.

Costain reports that, by the start of 2023, every solution delivered for clients will also propose ‘at least one low-carbon option’. This could include the use of hybrid plant, or the incorporation of technologies such as heat recovery systems.

According to Lara Young, Costain group carbon manager: “This is like value engineering, but through a carbon lens rather than a cost lens. We won’t be waiting for clients to ask the question, instead we are aiming to prompt it.”
