Investigation after MEWP collision
The Rail Accident Investigation Branch has begun an investigation after two workers were injured in a collision between two mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPS) in Essex on 25 January 2020.
Both workers suffered severe bruising and back injuries. The railway was closed to normal traffic and the two machines were part of equipment being used to renew overhead electrical power lines near Rochford.
The investigation will examine several factors, including the braking performance of the MEWPs and the management of the competence of the operators and controllers.
