Skilled worker salary threshold set to drop
The skilled migrant worker threshold is set to be lowered from £30,000 to £25,600, for those with job offers, according to the BBC.
PM Boris Johnson and Home Secretary Priti Patel are expected to announce the new policy later this week. Initially it will cover non-EU workers with job offers, but EU migrants will likely face the same rules from 2021.
Last month the independent Migration Advisory Committee urged the Government to reduce the salary threshold to £25,600. The advisory body also made other recommendations to the Government, including relaxing the rules around the employment of “electrical and electronic trades supervisors”.
