London Mayor concern for low-carbon homes

Sadiq Khan has written to Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick to raise concern about the Government’s commitment to low-carbon homes in England.

Khan says that proposals in the Government’s Future Homes Standard require just 75% of new builds to be carbon-neutral by 2025. However, London has already set out plans for every new build to be zero carbon by the same point in time.

“All the evidence shows that we must use every available measure to seriously tackle the climate emergency we face, and to meet the Government’s own net-zero target”, commented Khan.

Khan is up for re-election in May this year, as he looks to secure a second-term as London Mayor.
