PM Boris Johnson and well-known naturalist, documentary maker and climate activist Sir David Attenborough launched the COP26 climate forum, to be held later this year in Glasgow.

At the launch event, Johnson announced the Government’s intention to end the use of coal power in the UK by 2024, one year ahead of schedule.

Sir David, 93, spoke about a "moment of crisis" on climate change and made an urgent appeal for action after claiming human beings have "overrun the planet."

Energy Secretary Andrea Leadsom said, “Coal-generated energy will soon be a distant memory as we plan to decarbonise every sector of our economy, enabling a greener future for all our children.”
