Contractor fined after roofer falls from height

A roofing contractor has been fined £60,000 for breaching safety regulations after a worker fell nearly seven metres onto a concrete floor, according to Construction Enquirer.

The worker, an employee of Lane Roofing Contractors Ltd, fell while undertaking part of a 10-week roof replacement project in Basingstoke. He sustained multiple fractures.

An HSE investigation found that Lane Roofing Contractors Ltd failed to properly plan and appropriately supervise the work to minimise the risks of work at height.

ECA provides guidance and notes on best practice for work at height – find out more here.
