Ofgem announces climate manifesto
Britain’s energy regulator Ofgem has announced a nine-point manifesto, as part of efforts to tackle the climate emergency.
The manifesto includes a range of actions, including supporting low carbon domestic heating, seeking 10 million electric vehicles by 2030, and a large increase in offshore wind generation.
Ofgem had been criticised by business group the CBI for sending “negative signals” to low-carbon investors.
The energy regulator’s incoming CEO Jonathan Brealey has since recognised that their “role protecting consumers includes achieving net zero”.
