Network Rail opens bidding for £500m of work
On 12th July, Network Rail is set to hold a ‘bidders’ day’ event for up to £500 million worth of Midland Mainline electrification projects to upgrade a 155km stretch of track from Market Harborough to Sheffield.
During the virtual event, which will be held via Microsoft Teams, rail infrastructure chiefs will set out their latest plans for the project and canvass for ideas on the most efficient delivery method to avoid cost overruns.
Works will include Overhead Line Equipment extension to Sheffield and Nottingham, route clearance to accommodate OLE extension, and increased power supply to support electric passenger services to Sheffield and Nottingham.
The project is due out to tender in September 2022.
