32MW battery project begins construction
A 32MW / 32MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project has begun construction near Bristol.
The site, built and operated by energy power producer Voltalia, will comprise 16 modules of 2MWh unit capacity each.
The battery will provide frequency, balancing and other ancillary services to the national grid and local grid network.
Sébastien Clerc, CEO of Voltalia, said in Energy Storage News that the new asset is in line with the company's strategy of technological and geographical diversification and allows it to "capitalise on our experience in battery storage."
