Tesla supplies UK mega-battery project
Energy and technology giant Tesla will supply 68MWh of capacity to a utility-scale battery storage site in Sussex.
Developed by energy companies Fotowatio Renewable Ventures and Harmony Energy, the project will store power generated by renewable sources and supply energy to around 5,000 homes.
Peter Kavanagh, CEO of Harmony Energy, said to Solar Power Portal: “There is real momentum in the development of subsidy-free, utility scale battery storage in the UK as we continue the shift towards a greener economy. The value of battery storage in providing flexibility to the grid continues to increase as the UK’s penetration of renewable energy grows.”
