£49mn for green transport
The Government has announced £49 million of new funding for green transport projects to create jobs, save millions of tonnes of CO₂ and lead the charge towards a low-carbon automotive future.
A £10m tranche of the funding will be used to develop state-of-the-art motors and high-performing batteries for electric vehicles. Meanwhile, £29m will be used to develop infrastructure to collect and recycle electric vehicles and their batteries. The remaining £10m will be used implement automation technologies to quickly charge electric vehicle batteries on the production line.
Business Minister Nadhim Zahawi said: “The UK is leading the global battle against climate change, and by developing cleaner vehicles, our automotive industry will help make our net zero ambitions a reality.”
