How are the Wiring Regulations made?

The IET Wiring Regulations is the essential publication for all professionals in the electrotechnical and engineering services sector.

Currently in its 18th Edition, the Wiring Regulations undergo frequent revisions and amendments.

In this episode of the ECA Podcast, we ask: who determines the contents of the Wiring Regulations? What leads to the drafting and creation of new amendments, and when is it the right time to issue a new edition?

With Amendment 1 in full effect and Amendment 2 just around the corner, ECA Technical Managers Gary Parker and Shahid Khan sat down with Mark Coles, Technical Regulations Manager at the IET, to discuss the rationale behind the Regulations, the governing bodies involved in the decision-making process, the history of electrotechnical regulation in Britain and Europe, and what the future holds for the 18th Edition.

Make sure to like and share the ECA Podcast, and join the discussion by submitting your questions and topic suggestions to podcast@eca.co.uk.
